My favorite abandoned farm in County Galway, Ireland.

I found this beautiful farm one day as I was searching for the perfect working farm in the west of Ireland. I had an unused 35 mm roll of color film to shoot on just one site if I was lucky enough to find a good one. From about a mile away, I spotted a

Here is and example of our wonderful Lake Michigan waves found here in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Sheboygan is known as the “Surfing Capitol” of the Mid-west. I should paint in a Surfer with his wet suit on one of these scenes. What do you think about that?

Self Critique English Painting

Marilyn and I recently returned from a month long visit to England. The first week in this interesting country was spent on a rented 45 foot long canal boat. Marilyn was First Mate and I was the Skipper. I only hit (crashed)the sides of the locks about ten times. This painting was done last week

Our Painters at Jake’s Cafe

100 Irish Paintings!

As part of my retirement planning I took two important actions. The first was to convert the second floor of our 1900 hand-hewn Finnish log barn/garage into an apartment. (Please see the painting “Harvesting Cabbages”). We found a family who always wanted to live in a log house, grow a garden and have plenty of

My Inspirational Painting

Stoltenberg grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, (my home town) and studied painting in Germany. He loved to paint Wisconsin farm scenes especially in winter. I

First Log Cabin

My first log cabin project was part of my first job after college in the summer of 1971. Al Felly, a businessman from Madison, Wisconsin, had purchased several lots in historic Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Felly’s goal was to restore four historic buildings to be used as a new tourism destination. He transformed an ugly, unkept

Harvesting Cabbages

This is one of my latest paintings. It is 24″ x 30″ in oils on canvas. This is a sample of what we would call a “Legacy Painting”. I want to help other folks transform their history, ideas and philosophies into a fine art painting like “Harvesting Cabbages”. This view was painted from a photograph

Painter’s Portrait

Rediscovering our country’s history through the tip of a brush, Alan Pape spends his days capturing on canvas what he calls “cultural landscapes” – painting historic old buildings and beautiful landscapes that tell a story from the past. The project itself was produced and directed from the Leclerc Brothers team. Shot on RED, and brought
